The Anti-Barbie

Patricia Baligod

A jeans/shirt combo is not exactly the epitome of a girly outfit, but here, worn with the right accessories (pink shoes), the perfect mix of colors (nude pumps, light washed jeans and a white shirt) and some surprise details (lace detail on the shoulder) this outfit definitely shouts sweet and girly without trying too much.

Perfectly Styled

Paolo Jaafar

The bag, the shoes and the layering of clothes --- one can really say that guys have acknowledged the importance of dressing up well.

Sketch Sunday: Varsity Pullovers

We can't ignore the numerous sweatshirts, pullovers, and letterman jackets that keep on popping up everywhere in campus. But this had stemmed from somewhere and truthfully the Varsity Jacket trend was featured in Alexander Wang's Spring Summer Collection 2010. These versatile jackets, that you could wear over any normal outfit, is a cousin of the preppy look as all things collegiate is very much in fashion.

Take me to the Ball Game

Maverick Lacson

If your teenage dream was to be part of an athletic team and sport the uniform, well it's never too late to look the part. Scouting for these vintage jerseys in thrift shops is a fun way to individualize yourself. Treat it as a fun challenge in updating this vintage piece because you have the liberty of stylizing it and make it more interesting.

Collegiate Cool

Dyn Rabanal

Sweatshirts appear to be heavy and bulky however they are perfect and cozy for a chilly weather. They could also be fashionable pieces once worn with the right accessories and carried off with enough swagger.

Tough Chick

Valeen Montenegro

We're used to the girls coming to school in floral tops, pastel colored shirts and frilly skirts. We're used to all things pretty and polished. Sometimes you just want to put a little bit of edge in your sartorial choices and that doesn't mean feminine and edgy can't coexist. It's all about incorporating heavy and darker pieces but still having pops of color and maintaining elegance overall.

Epaulettes

Arlene Bansal

Epaulettes are shoulder accessories originally used to signify rank and power on the uniforms worn by the officers in the army. This trend has been on the rise even late last year for the emphasis on bold shoulders and has just gain more prominence for the rage that is the military trend nowadays. Don't go thinking that this can't be made on your own because you can buy yourself a meter of fringe from fabric supplies stores and with a glue gun, jazz up a boring top with your own fringe epaulettes.

Design everyday was this year's theme and things kicked off last August 7, 2010 for what would be the most anticipated week for artists of all kinds. There was a design conference, a competition between graffiti crews, an on-the-spot design battle, a freedom wall activity and parties that took place all over the metro attended by design enthusiasts and top personalities. Last Wednesday, an exhibit was mounted entitled Bratpack presents: "What's in your bag?" at Greenbelt 5 Fashion Walk which basically recruited 25 of Manila's style and pop culture icons displaying for all to see what their daily essentials and must haves were inside their bags as photographed and styled by the best in the industry.

Go for this look partnered with a cool unkempt hairstyle and dramatic eye makeup plus confidence just like you couldn't care less.
